An art deco landmark on the Ostend seafront with a casino next door. The building alone is worth seeing. Game selection is more limited than Knokke but the setting compensates.
The Hotel
Built in 1933, the Thermae Palace is a protected art deco monument on Ostend's promenade. Rooms vary — the renovated ones are excellent, the unrenovated ones show their age. Sea-facing rooms are worth the premium.
The Casino
Casino Ostend occupies a modern building adjacent to the hotel. Four roulette tables, three blackjack, and a decent slots floor. Smaller operation than Casino Knokke but quieter and more relaxed.
The Food & Drink
The hotel brasserie serves solid Belgian fare — mussels, stoofvlees, local fish. Ostend has excellent independent seafood restaurants along the harbour.
The Verdict
Best for: Architecture enthusiasts who enjoy casino as an evening add-on. Budget-conscious Belgium casino travellers.
Skip if: You want a large poker room or high-stakes baccarat — Knokke is the better choice.
